Why Google+ Ad Space Isn’t Effective

When Google launched its latest social network, there were plenty of doubters and still are. A lot of people don’t believe that Google+ can actually compete with the network giant Facebook, and so far, I would be inclined to agree. It simply doesn’t offer a lot of the things Facebook does.

While Google+ technically enrolled 10 million users by July, it “wasn’t ready for business.” Yes, there are plenty of people who have signed up, but the number of people actually using the service has remained fairly low compared to Facebook, even though it can be accessed directly through emails that many use every day and even though many report hating Facebook and all of its changes.

From a business perspective, this alone means that your ads will not get the traffic that they would somewhere else. However, there are other reasons why businesses are turning away from Google+.

Easy Administration – Even people who know nothing about creating ads can create basic ads on Facebook, it’s fairly simple. Google+ on the other hand isn’t necessarily as easy, and it doesn’t provide as many options for business owners who want to get serious about certain details of their own ads and their spread. It’s hard to manage comparatively speaking.

No Integration – Google does offer a lot of services such as Blogger, Google Analytics, and video sharing. However, this is not integrated into Google+’s ad services. You would think that it would be, and there’s no reason for it not to be. However, many are finding that it’s not as great as Google could be.

Lack of Traffic – Like we mentioned above, it’s simple. People aren’t actually using their Google+ accounts, meaning that these ads are not getting real traffic flow, especially when compared to other more popular networking sites that actually have users logging in and looking on a regular basis, even if it’s just from their phones. Frankly, it seems that traffic flow is actually dropping on Google+.

No Contests or Promotions Allowed – Isn’t that strange? One of the most effective ways to draw in traffic is to offer promotions, contests, something that gets the user’s attention, and yet Google+ does not allow this. It cuts advertisers off at the knees.
